HOW IS SOAP MADE?
Soap is essentially a salt. It is the result of combining oils and butters with lye water (also referred to as sodium hydroxide). The handmade soap bars that I make here at FP contain olive oil, coconut oil, sustainable palm oil, sunflower oil and organic, raw cocoa butter.
Essential oils and/ or fragrances are added to the mixture along with natural clays or micas for colour. The gloopy batter is then poured into moulds and left to sit overnight. The following day it gets cut into individual bars and then placed onto shelves where it sits for a while to 'cure'. The curing process takes about a month, during which time the soap becomes fully saponifed. The longer the soap is left, the harder it becomes, making it more long lasting with a richer, creamier lather.
MY FAVOURED HANDMADE SOAP INGREDIENTS:
All of the soaps here at FuturePrimitive are made with vegetable based, vegan ingredients. I use both essential oils and a few fine fragrance oils to make the more exotic scents in my catalogue. The fragrances I use are always obtained from EU approved suppliers.
I am happy to offer both kinds of soaps here, the all natural soaps, and the more... how shall I put this? Foodie scents? Scents that smell like a coffee house? Or a cemetary in autumn perhaps? The main goal for me is to offer you a bathing experience unlike any other. If you are new here, a very warm welcome to you! I urge you to read our reviews both here and on Trust Pilot (link on the home page) so that you can gain some insight into how my customers feel about using my products. Some of them are really rather poetic!
CRUELTY FREE? YOU BETCHA!
No animals are tested on here. If you didn't already know, animal testing is banned in the UK and EU. There is no need for us to test on anything other than ourselves and our willing family members, friends, and customers.
